On the occasion of the 1st anniversary of the Business Incubation Centre of the European Space Agency in Portugal, this afternoon was held at the Pedro Nunes Institute, a presentation event of the results of this project and the companies that will be supported in next two years.
The Business Incubation Centre of the European Space Agency in Portugal (ESA BIC Portugal), coordinated by Pedro Nunes Institute and in cooperation with UPTEC and DNA Cascais was released in 2014 end, one of the 13 current ESA hatcheries level European. In this structure are backed startups applying technology developed for the space in sectors such as health, transport, energy, safety and urban life.
Till this moment, the ESA BIC Portugal has selected six startups (Active Aerogels, Airborne Projects, D-Orbit PT, Eye2Map, InanoE and Space Layer Technologies), and less than half a year, had already reached the goals set for the first year .
In the five-year period – duration of the program – the ESA BIC Portugal provides incubate 30 companies that will create about 240 new jobs, raising an expected capital exceeding € 6.5 million.
The ESA BIC Portugal is a direct investment in Portugal of € 1,950,000 (one million nine hundred and fifty thousand euros) in five years.
The projects are supported with 50,000 euros for the construction of prototypes and intellectual property management, benefiting additionally support business and technical support as well as access to a wide network of potential customers, partners and investors.
